Rhonda: Whose bright idea was it to book all these flights so early??? Again we were in a cab before daylight headed to the airport . It was uneventful and we arrived safely in Puerto Iguazu Argentina at 830am. It is very different here from where we have been. It's a lush jungle with monkeys and yellow birds and tons of butterfly's. I was so lucky to have number 88 land on my neck and hang out a bit.
Our room was not ready to check in that early so we dropped off the luggage and went to Brazil! We have a tour tomorrow for the Argentina side of the falls so we decided to use our time today to see the Brazilian side. It was easy to cross the border. Our driver just showed our passports and they waved us through. He dropped us off at the National park entrance where we got tickets and on to a double decker bus. The bus took us a good ways into the jungle until we reached the falls. Well, once you did the hike there.
The first group of waterfalls were underwhelming. First thought was they are so muddy and yellow. But little did we know that every lookout point along the trail revealed more and more bigger and bigger waterfalls. It was overwhelming by the finale. The finale:
It's just stunning. There are anywhere from 150-300 falls depending on the rainfall. It had just rained ( and rained on us at the end of the day) and the falls were roaring. We are really looking forward to the experience tomorrow. We will do some hiking like today, then a boat that takes you right up to the falls and gets you all wet, and also some 4 wheeling.
Here we are at 430p finally eating lunch and relaxing . I have a feeling it will be another early night for us, we are pretty tired. And that same idiot booked yet another 7a tour! We are starting to look forward to the cruise! Especially the sea days so we can sleep! But until 3/19..... we are burning that candle at both ends!
Chris: In 2017 or so we we went to Niagara Falls and we saw the falls from the car on the way to our hotel, not a great look but a look,so that was our point of reference today. Was Iguazú going to be like that ? And by the way, Niagara Falls is amazing and spectacular, we loved it. Niagara Falls made us a bit obsessed with the big waterfalls. Victoria Falls in Africa is next !!
I ran across a reference to Iguazú Falls a year or so pre Covid and after our trip to Niagara. I told Rhonda and we agreed, that's must see. So, this trip was built around the falls.
Rhonda: we have much more to say about this area and the falls but since we are spending all day there tomorrow as well we will save it for tomorrow when we are even smarter . 🥰
Love y'all.
