Hi y'all,
We slept late and had room service breakfast in bed and then slept more . Got up and I had a burger and Chris had a hot dog. LOL that's pretty much been our day. So instead of boring you with a running total of rummy cube games we will just write random strings of consciousness.
Rhonda: This is an older group of vacationers on this cruise. There are several blind women, many in wheel chairs and scooters, several that need 2 walking sticks, lots with canes. And I admire the HELL out of them. Hurrah that they are out here traveling the world . Seeing and exploring how ever they can. Not letting anything stop them. It's beautiful.
Chris: This our ninth cruise, our first being in 2002 so it's not our main form of travel but we do enjoy cruising. We are on the Celebrity Edge and we both say it is our favorite to date. The food is really good, even the buffet is pretty good and the dining rooms and specialty restaurants are great. The service is fantastic and the ship is very nice. We have loved it.
But, only once have we been on a cruise that the seas were so rough that it was hard to walk and that was only a few hours one night, but this one ? Hold my beer and check this out ! The crossing from Sydney to New Zealand was very choppy but manageable and it was great great sleep, just rocking all night, but night before last ? The worst we have experienced by far, just white caps and huge waves. We took that day off and just rolled with it in bed but we did eventually get up and go to the buffet and we had to hold on to each other to get from the salad bar to the carving station !! It was like swimming from island to island, let's rest, hold on to me, you ready ? Let's buck it up and go !!
These rough seas have been quite the experience for a boy from Lubbock Texas but over all we have enjoyed the experience. It's nature and the mighty ocean and it's amazing to be out here in it, as long as the ship's crew knows a hell of a lot more than a kid from Lubbock.
Rhonda: I agree the seas have been crazy rough some days. But even more serious?
I need to shop for girly clothes. These women have the cutest clothes and here I am in tshirts and yoga pants . I need cute travel clothes and I need my girlfriends to Make. Me shop. In a store! and try things on. I can count on two fingers how many times I have shopped in a store in the past 4 years. Help!
My other issue is the food waste on these cruises. Those who know me well, know that I don't waste a scrap. I freeze all of my veggie peels and chicken and beef bones. I make broth regularly. I replant potatoes that have sprouted and onion tops and radish roots. Chris teases me that I was a depression baby. Really my grandparents lived through it and had a good influence on me. But my god cruises do make my heart hurt by
how much food is wasted. They must have to put employees from food deprived countries through conditioning training to keep the disgust off their faces. We are in the steak house tonight and ordered a bone in filet each. I am telling you those bones would have made a soup that could fed a family for several days!
Okay. Enough random thoughts. We have a BIG day tomorrow in the Bay of Islands!
Love y'all.
