Hi y’all, Today is Friday October 19, 2024. We did an all day tour of the city today by panaramic bus. We thought that meant not much walking but we were definitely wrong. It was raining most of the morning and like dummies we did not bring the umbrellas that we packed. So we got soaked at the first stop at a shrine.
Meiji Shrine is devoted to the spirits of Emperor Meiji and they believe that gods live there . It’s in a lush forest that’s in the heart of the city. There were rituals we had to do before entering the gates ( bowing) and then we had to wash our hands, then drink the water, then Wash hands again before we could enter the second gate. When in the courtyard of the temple we tossed in a coin and bowed twice, clapped twice, prayed, then bowed again. I know that I was praying the the God Of Backs and Feet to help me get through this day without too much pain. ( I guess I did it wrong. lol).
Next was the Emperor’s Palace and Gardens. We bowed out ( see what I did there haha) and had coffee and ice cream in the gardens. It was delightful.
Then on to a matcha tasting and lunch at a Buddhist temple. Sensoji Temple hit all the senses. It was crowded and loud, there was incense smoke , geisha ladies, and wonderful food .

In the afternoon we went to the 350th floor of Skytower which surely would have been amazing except that it was so cloudy there was no visibility. And then we did a boat trip in Tokyo Bay. It was right at sunset and so pretty to see the city all lit up from the water.
It was great day but we are so tired that we ordered room service and crashed. We have a 430a alarm set for our flight to Ho Chi Min City Vietnam tomorrow. Love yall!
