Windy Wellington

Wow! We thought yesterday was a crazy start but today really was. The wind was so strong that the ship had a hard time docking. There were tug boats pushing us. Then, when we finally got to the dock, they couldn't get the gangplank attached safely to the ship. We never knew what a line of 2900 people would look like, we do now. It was insanity with everyone trying to get off the ship at the same time.

The lines wrapped all the way around the ship and through the dining rooms.

Chris: it was so windy and cold on the dock and because of the delay getting off the boat it was just absolute chaos. The tour buses couldn't get in to pick people up and the wind was so strong you seriously could barely walk into it. We were miserable.

We found out later that they had to bring out tug boats to push us sideways to the dock. It was so windy the ship's side to side thrusters couldn't make it to the dock. We all wondered how close they came to canceling the stop. We have no idea if that was a consideration or not but we do know two people that that happened to on two different cruises.

Rhonda: The 10a tour didn't leave until after 1100a. But we had the best bunch of people. We were laughing and cutting up so much that the tour guide thought we were all together and couldn't believe we met when we finally got on the van. Listen, this was no one's fault, and the crew was just keeping us safe . You have to roll with it when you travel.

We had a Martinborough winery tour today. Its all First world problems!!!

We went to two wineries instead of three but that was ok. As we all agreed to buy a bottle of wine to share on the bus on the way home and our driver ( bless his heart) went to a store and got red solo cups for us. The wineries were beautiful and the lunch was amazing . Then silly tipsy we loaded up for the 1:30 drive back. We all shared our $60 bottles of Sauvignon and Pinot Noir in our red solo cups. We talked and laughed and made fast friends.

Chris: So we did get our third winery, it was just in the back of a van. We had an absolutele blast all day but the trip back was probably the best part of the day, there is nothing like getting drunk with complete strangers and spilling all your stories and secrets !!

Love y'all.
