Winery tour day.

Today is a gorgeous day. I cooked breakfast and we had coffee looking at the bay. We have a winery tour with lunch today. They will pick us up at 12pm.

It got to be 12p and I got a phone call that the driver had arrived and could not locate us. So we walked out and across the way to the lodge. The door was open so we walked in and called out that we were here. A gentleman walked out and said hi who are you looking for. I told him we were staying in the guest house and that the tour driver was looking for us. I said maybe the driver had stepped into the Lodge to wait. I looked around that room and then stepped in another room to see if the driver was in there. It was very nice.

That's when he told us this was HIS HOME and not the lodge. We walked into someone's house y'all. And gave it a look around! And this sweety was nothing but gracious.

He offered the use of his pool, he brought us a bottle of local wine and put it on our doorstep, he took us up the steep hill to meet our tour bus when it finally arrived in his car. Y'all. These people are the nicest people you will ever meet.

Chris: These people are comically nice and I mean that as a compliment. I mean, we walked into this guys house. Looked in two rooms and all he said was, who are you looking for ?Only when we said something about it being the lodge did he tell us it was his house. Then he helped us figure out where our driver actually was, he told us all about the area and the mountain side vineyard that we are staying in and told us he hoped we would visit the island again. Then he drove us up the steep hill to the main road in his own car and then put a bottle of red wine from the vineyard at our door.

It reminded us of the movie European Vacation when Clark runs over the English guy on a bicycle. The rest of the movie they would run into the guy in various places. He had a cast on both legs, a cast on one arm and a head bandage and he kept apologizing for hitting the front of their car and was always trying to open doors for them or carry their bags. I would not have been surprised if the guy in the house had apologized and said it was his fault we walked into and looked around his house.

Rhonda: So we went on with the tour and it was great.

The driver let us off in town to walk around while he picked up the rest of the group from the ferry. As one does, we had a pre-game glass of wine before the wine tour.

We went to three different wineries. The wine and lunch were fabulous. I would tell you about the wines and urge you to go buy them but none of them sell any wine outside of the island. They don't produce enough to do that. So you will simply have to come here yourself. Believe me , you will love it.

We stayed in town after the tour to have oysters again. They are just too good to pass up. The last photo above is from our table at the OYSTER INN and Restaurant.

Back to the cottage in time to do hot tub sunset one last time. Life is good . Love y'all.
